    EMPOWERED PARENTING!!!

Knowing that many of us are weathering the
storms, we are seeking to continue to be
Empowered Parents.  We now have a new name
"Empowered Parenting".  A group that seeks to
support and provide resources for parents
and/or guardians of children with Challenging
Behavior due to emotional or mental health
    Issues.

Come and be part of a group that seeks to
educate and support families and people
struggling to cope due to Mental and Emotional
Health issues.  The Federation has other groups,
however we are targeting the Silver Spring,
Wheaton and Takoma Park areas.  It would help
us plan if you could contact either Michelle
Banks on 301 681-8929 or Sheri Verdonk on
sverdonk@yahoo.com if you plan to come.  A
stipend for childcare or transportation  may be
available upon request.  Contact Michelle Banks.

Children with disabilities have the right to be
given opportunities that allow them to live to
their fullest potential. Too often, parents raising
these children feel isolated socially and are
    burdened financially, emotionally and physically.
They are forced to make hard decisions and
sacrifice substantially in areas that most could
    not imagine.

The Lollipop Kids Foundation exists to combat
social stigmas, ease the financial burden placed
on these families, offer emotional support, and
provide brief respite so that every child with a
disability has access to a hope and a future.

TASH is an international association of people
with disabilities, their family members, other
advocates, and professionals fighting for a
society in which inclusion of all people in all
aspects of society is the norm. TASH is an
organization of members concerned with human
dignity, civil rights, education, and independence
for all individuals with disabilities. We have
over thirty chapters and members from thirty-
four different countries and territories. Since
our inception over twenty-five years ago, TASH
has gained international acclaim for our
    uncompromising stand against separatism,
stigmatization, abuse and neglect. We actively
promote the full inclusion and participation of
persons with disabilities in all aspects of life.
TASH believes that no one with a disability
should be forced to live, work, or learn in a
segregated setting; that all individuals deserve
the right to direct their own lives. TASH 's
mission is to eliminate physical and social
obstacles that prevent equity, diversity, and
    quality of life.
