SEPTA will be hosting a Bookfair at the Clarendon Barnes and Noble, including the opportunity for children to make complimentary valentine cards on Saturday from 10am to 3pm. During the book fair, the Parent Resource Center will be open on Saturday from 10am to Noon across the street. Culpeper Street, Arlington, VA 2220 Families of preschool children with special needs are invited to join us to learn more about navigating their child’s transition from preschool to kindergarten. Participants will learn about elementary school options, and special education services provided in a variety of models at the kindergarten level. View flyer Understanding Special Education February 14, 2012: 9:00am to Noon Clarendon Education Center, Room 306, 2801 Clarendon Boulevard, Arlington, VA 22201 During this informative session, parents will learn about the special education process, including referral, evaluation, eligibility and development of Individual Education Programs (IEPs), and the important role families play as members of educational teams. Participants will learn what to expect at various special education meetings, and how to best prepare to positively collaborate with school-based team members. Registration is requested. The session will address the role of the IEP team members, including parents; the components of IEPs; measurable annual goals; understanding progress on IEPs; and collaborating with school staff.
